In perhaps Houston’s best weather of the year, over 120 men and women gathered for a full day of tennis to raise funds for the Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center and the American Heart Association. The 10th anniversary Tennis with a Heart annual charity tournament raised, even in the times of COVID19, over $20,000 for its charities last Saturday, bringing the cumulative total to a little more than $320,000.
First played in 2011 and stemming from an idea originated by tournament director Raouf Hadad and John Gremp, former CEO of TechnipFMC, the fast-paced team format is designed to give players plenty of court time and friendly competition, and to afford sponsor organizations visibility at the event and year-round on the tournament’s website.
Presented by Ocean Edge Services and TechnipFMC and held at the Clubs of Kingwood, this year’s sponsors included, among other donors and volunteers:
- Hamel Chiropractic and Wellness
- DeepTrend, Inc.
- SPIR STAR® AG
- Swagelok®
- Frost (Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc.)
- Harper & Pearson Company, P.C.
- Viking Engineering
Congratulations to our winning teams in the four NTRP skill levels and five brackets:
- 5.0+ (Open) 1: Dream Makers
- 5.0+ (Open) 2: Teen Titans
- 4.5: Merge Maniacs
- 4.0: Bobasaurs
- 3.5: Gypsies
And a special thanks to John Kudrick, Director of Tennis at the Clubs of Kingwood. John has been a good friend to the tournament and its charities since the inception in 2011, and was instrumental in moving the event to the fabulous Kingwood Country Club.
